Improving the inflow of outside air with an air curtain.
The facility is Japan's first urban circular ropeway, which opened in April 2021 as a means of transportation connecting Sakuragicho Station in front of JR and the New Port Pier Canal Park in the Yokohama city center waterfront area. The Sakuragicho Station of the ropeway is located in a well-accessible area in front of the East Exit Square of JR Sakuragicho Station (a 1-minute walk from Sakuragicho Station), while the Canal Park Station on the opposite bank is connected to the commercial facility Yokohama World Porters via a corridor, making it conveniently located for access to nearby tourist spots such as Yokohama Cosmo World and the Red Brick Warehouse. To prevent the intrusion of outside air with temperature differences from entering through the entrance of the Sakuragicho station building on the second floor and the entrance to the ropeway boarding platform, we have introduced Tornex's 2-way air curtain box.

The ropeway station building at Sakuragicho, equipped with a 2-way air curtain, has the ticket sales area and the waiting line area for the ropeway on the second floor. The stairs leading to this second floor face outdoors, and while there are automatic doors, users have been troubled by the wind blowing up along the stairs (warm air in summer and cold air in winter). Each time the automatic doors opened and closed due to user passage, outside air would blow into the ticket sales area on the second floor, causing discomfort for our visitors. To solve this issue, we were looking for a "system that can block outside air even when the automatic doors are open," and we arrived at the air curtain. Due to the lack of information about air curtains, we initially purchased a cheap commercially available air curtain and used it in "always on" mode. However, despite the insufficient airflow, the electricity costs were high, so we consulted with our supplier to improve this situation, and they introduced us to Tornex's air curtain.
