[Seminar] "Key Points of the Biodiversity Enhancement Promotion Act" and Business Opportunities

Our company will hold a seminar titled "The Essence of the 'Biodiversity Enhancement Activity Promotion Act' and Business Opportunities." In December 2022, a new global goal, the "Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Framework," was adopted. Our country has also revised its national biodiversity strategy, setting the goal of achieving "Nature Positive" by 2030 and conserving over 30% of land and sea under the "30by30" target. Achieving this requires not only the expansion of protected areas such as national parks but also the promotion of Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECM) in nearby natural environments, including satoyama (traditional rural landscapes), corporate green spaces, and urban green spaces. Against this backdrop, a new law was enacted in April of this year to promote activities by companies and others to enhance biodiversity in local areas, including the establishment of a certification system for related plans. This presentation will detail the background leading to the establishment of the new law and provide an overview of the law itself.
