[Case Study of 3D CAD Software for Mechanical Design] Shimizu Industrial Co., Ltd.
COLMINA Design and Manufacturing Support iCAD SX
[Free Case Study Provided] Introducing examples that achieved a speed-up in mold mechanism design.
We would like to introduce a case study of Shimizu Industry Co., Ltd., which has two main pillars in its business: automotive molding parts and resin molds, where "iCAD SX" was implemented. Due to the slow response of high-end CAD, the company was unable to perform smooth operations for medium to large molds. Because they emphasized parameter design, the customization of minor operation commands lacked flexibility and was prone to obsolescence, leading to a standardization that halted evolution. By transitioning the mold mechanism design to our product, the design workload was significantly reduced. With improved response times, assembly became easier to handle, and they were able to efficiently conduct interference checks that were previously impossible. 【Case Overview】 ■Challenges - The slow response prevented smooth operations for medium to large molds. - Customization of minor operation commands lacked flexibility and was prone to obsolescence. ■Results - Achieved smooth operations without hindering designers' trials. - Efficiently conducted comprehensive interference checks. \ Click below to download the case study PDF / ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓

Company information
To support Japan's manufacturing, iCAD Corporation is developing the specialized 3D CAD 'iCAD SX V8' focused on mechanical design. iCAD achieves high-speed response, handling 3 million parts in 0.2 seconds, allowing for stress-free design consideration and verification of large-scale equipment and entire production lines consisting of tens of thousands of components. Leveraging its capability to handle vast amounts of information, it is possible to accumulate and utilize the design information necessary for equipment development, including piping, wiring, and control (motion), into a single CAD data set. This single data set can be utilized across various scenarios and departments, from design to manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance. This results in reduced development lead times and improved design quality.
