The TBBT01 Bias-Tee is a device used to measure the saturation effect of power inductors and the effect of bias voltage on capacitors. Most bias tees available for power inductor testing operate at low frequencies, making them unsuitable for evaluating RF power amplifiers or decoupling/bias inductors in EMC filters. However, RF bias tees typically have limited current capacity and cannot be used in lower frequency ranges. The TBBT01 can measure not only high currents but also high bandwidth. Since power inductors often use ferrite cores, they are affected by magnetic saturation. Even before reaching the magnetic saturation current specified in the inductor's datasheet, the inductance begins to decrease, and the RF characteristics of the component deteriorate. The impact of DC current is often underestimated when constructing EMC filters, leading to filters that do not function as planned. A high-current bias tee is necessary to evaluate the frequency response of EMC filters under load conditions. High-current bias tees can be used for a wide range of additional applications.
