Hairless mouse
In 1968, Temple University Skin and Cancer Hospital obtained hairless mice from Sandra Biological Supply and created the Skh:HR strain by crossing them with CBA mice. This strain exhibited various coat colors. In 1987, Hoshino Laboratory Animal Breeding Co., Ltd. selected only the albino mice from the Skh:HR strain, which was maintained in a closed colony, and further produced and supplied them as Hos:HR-1 under SPF conditions.

basic information
It is an animal suitable for skin research because it eliminates the hassle of shaving and does not cause skin injuries when shaving. Unlike nude mice, its immune function is normal, so it can be raised in conventional animal facilities. Initially, it has fur like regular mice, but due to abnormalities in the second hair cycle that begins around two weeks of age, it starts to lose hair from the head. By around four weeks of age, the hair has fallen out and will not grow back thereafter.
