Hollow multi-core POF, parallel transmission POF tape, side-emitting fiber
■Hollow Multi-Core POF This is a fiber with a hollow center that can be used as a light guide. It is also possible to insert an image fiber into the hollow part. ■Parallel Transmission POF Tape This is a POF tape expected to be used as an optical waveguide. ■Side-Emitting Fiber This is a fiber that emits light from its side, designed for illumination purposes. Asahi Kasei's high-performance plastic optical fibers have been developed by combining spinning technology cultivated through polymer technology and synthetic fibers. Plastic optical fibers are manufactured using highly transparent methacrylic resin as the core material and fluorine-based resin as the cladding material, employing the latest technology, and are expected to be a new material for applications such as signal transmission, light guides, and decoration. - The product specifications described on this page are only an overview, so please use them as a guideline for selecting the most suitable grade for individual applications. - The content on this page is subject to change without notice.

basic information
The optical transmission characteristics of plastic optical fibers vary depending on the wavelength of light. (1) Weather Resistance: The plastic optical fiber (POF) manufactured by Asahi Kasei Corporation is primarily composed of P-MMA resin, which has excellent weather resistance, so its initial performance rarely deteriorates even after long periods. However, please be aware that if the bare fiber (POF core wire) is exposed to ultraviolet light for extended periods, changes such as yellowing may occur. (2) Heat Resistance: The heat resistance of POF depends on the heat resistance of the plastic it is made from. (3) Flexibility: Plastic optical fibers have superior break strength compared to electric wires when bent, but extreme bends can cause optical transmission loss, so please use them within the allowable bending radius for each grade. For wiring with extreme bends, we recommend using Asahi Kasei Corporation's "Multi-Core POF," which does not experience a decrease in light transmission even when bent. (4) Chemical Resistance: Plastic optical fibers can generally be affected by organic solvents, leading to a decrease in optical transmission rate or mechanical strength, so please be cautious. For adhesive use, we recommend a room temperature curing two-component mixed epoxy adhesive.
