At Sony Life Insurance Co., Ltd., we have recently transitioned from "Lotus Notes/Domino" to a web-based groupware environment, which began operation in April 2005 under the name "uP (Universal Web Platform)." The new system targets 6,000 users across various job types and has implemented a core authentication infrastructure based on a meta-directory to achieve accurate access control and timely ID management based on individual identity information. When employees join, leave, or change positions, changes or deletions of user information in the HR system are reflected in the meta-directory, allowing for immediate synchronization of account information across 10 interconnected subsystems.
