Horizontal bridge slide method! I was able to complete the slide in 52 minutes!
Minimizing the time that State Route 266 is closed was a primary objective during the reconstruction of the bridge over the Holbrook Canal. The new bridge was initially used as a detour while the defective bridge was being demolished, and once the old bridge was taken down, the new bridge needed to be slid into place at the original bridge's location. To slide the new bridge into its designated position, a lateral bridge sliding method was employed. We provided a hydraulic solution that allowed the new 44.5-foot bridge structure to be pushed into place using the lateral sliding method with PTFE slide elements. We supplied two "RR Series double-acting hydraulic cylinders," each equipped with its own unique "ZU Series hydraulic pump" and integrated pendant control.
