◆Portable and labor-saving temporary large water bags On January 17, 2023, Taiyo Industry Co., Ltd. and Central Japan Highway Maintenance Co., Ltd. announced the joint development of a temporary large water bag called "Highway Delta" as a substitute for large sandbags. Developed over approximately a year and a half with the aim of replacing large sandbags used during road disasters, it excels in portability and labor-saving features. ◆Can be compactly folded for storage and transportation As landslides and other sediment disasters on road slopes are increasing, the temporary large water bag "Highway Delta" was developed as a disaster prevention tool to replace sandbags that are installed to prevent the intrusion of muddy water and stones after emergency measures such as sediment removal. Due to its long triangular bag made of highly waterproof material, it can be compactly folded for storage and can be moved as is. To install, it is stretched out, laid down, and water is poured inside. Unlike large sandbags, heavy machinery is not required for installation, and when using Central Japan Highway Maintenance Co., Ltd.'s water truck for filling, it can be set up by four workers in just 15 minutes. Additionally, because it is a water bag, it has the advantage of not scattering sediment during removal and can help mitigate impact when vehicles collide with it.
