【Principle of Advancement】 ■1. When the hydraulic jack is extended, the tail frame retracts, compacting the backfill soil, and when sufficient reaction force is obtained, the front section advances and the cutting edge penetrates into the face. ■2. Next, as the excavation of the face proceeds and the hydraulic jack is retracted, the self-weight of the front section and the frictional force on the surrounding surface serve as reaction forces to advance the tail frame, while backfill soil is placed into the resulting void at the rear. ■3.
