The "Ulm Stool" is a stool designed for students of the Ulm School of Design. In 1954, it was conceived by Max Bill, the first president of the university, and Hans Gugelot, who was Bill's assistant at the time, as a functional form intended not only as a chair but also for uses such as a side table, shelf, and portability. Unlike the standard model and color models that are unpainted, this model is made entirely of walnut. The surface is finished with clear urethane, resulting in a luxurious and beautiful appearance. It features an extremely simple U-shape. Its placement and use depend on your imagination. It can be used as a stool, side table, or stacked like a stacking shelf for a workspace, lecture, or café terrace, or even turned into a magazine rack, with the horizontal bar serving as a handle when carrying.
