The proposal from a joint team of Boeing, RPMI, and Hexagon, aimed at realizing hypersonic aircraft, has been adopted in the "Technology Development Proposal Using 3DP" publicly solicited by America Makes, a U.S. 3D printing promotion organization. The AFRL (U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory) will provide \$500,000 (65 million yen) in funding, and the three companies will advance the development of applications for hypersonic aircraft using 3D printing under the MAGMA Project. Hypersonic aircraft are being developed primarily by the U.S. Air Force and NASA, aiming for operation at speeds exceeding Mach 5. The adoption of this application development using 3D printing was influenced by the evaluation of RPMI's achievements in support-less, free-form fabrication using 5-axis robotic control and DED methods.
