Cleaning device for identifying the hazards of heat and pressure in liquid and powder of reaction mixtures and raw materials.
The TSU (Thermal Screening Unit) enables rapid screening of both temperature and pressure characteristics of samples on the same platform. It is easy to operate, has a small footprint, and offers flexibility in use. This can be considered a complementary or alternative method to traditional DSC/DTA (Differential Scanning Calorimetry/Differential Thermal Analysis) techniques.

basic information
Operating Modes The main operation is a simple oven temperature lamp (0.5–10°C/min) that can individually vary the temperature and pressure of the sample. Heat generation and gas release are indicated by spikes in the temperature and/or pressure trace of the sample. Additional operating modes are available as standard. Isothermal (Stability) Dual Scan Soak & Scan Multiple Units: Multiple thermal screening units can be used in parallel and operated from the same computer. This is a cost-effective way to screen a large number of samples. The compact design of the equipment allows for easy installation of multiple units in a standard draft chamber.

Applications/Examples of results
TSu typically searches for applications in the following areas: Thermal reaction screening of reaction hazards in process scale-up Study of thermal stability concerning the flow of reaction waste This is due to the ability to characterize changes in sample pressure in addition to thermal behavior, and the capability to support relatively large sample measurements. Effective reaction hazard screening requires two key pieces of data: The initiation temperature of the reaction (T d) - where heat generation is detected The pressure generated by the resulting runaway MTSR (maximum temperature of synthesis) - components in the reaction mixture that are greater than the initiation temperature (T d) may trigger undesirable side reactions or decomposition, potentially leading to secondary thermal runaway. In addition to considering thermal stability, it is also important to screen for pressure hazards. Some of the most dangerous reaction mixtures involve the generation of non-condensable gases. TSu provides critical information regarding relevant pressure changes, which is essential for assessing the risks of overpressure.
