With one tool, you can easily install, test, maintain, and measure solar panels and photovoltaic systems.
The Fluke FLK-IRR1-SOL solar radiation intensity meter allows you to perform all four essential measurements in a single user-friendly tool when investigating, installing, maintaining, and checking the performance of solar panels and photovoltaic systems. It instantly measures the solar irradiance in watts per square meter as required by the IEC 62446-1 standard. You can place the meter directly on the panel or connect an external probe to measure temperature. Use the compass to check the direction and the tilt function to verify the slope of the roof or panel. It can carry out all the critical measurements necessary for the installation and verification of solar power systems. Additionally, it also provides reports on the performance of solar power systems. Key Features: - Measures solar radiation intensity, ambient temperature, PV module temperature, array orientation, and tilt angle - Instantly measures solar irradiance in watts per square meter as required by the IEC 62446-1 standard - Equipped with a large display and high-contrast LCD for readability even in direct sunlight - Comes with a convenient carry case with a shoulder strap

Main Uses ■ Design and Survey of Solar Power Generation Systems To determine the expected power generation at the site, solar resources are identified while considering shading. Solar resources are measured at peak sunlight hours: the amount of sunlight per day (the energy of sunlight is 1 kilowatt per square meter). Peak sunlight hours are influenced by location, time, season, and weather conditions. Using the Fluke IRR1-SOL, actual solar radiation intensity (watts/m²) and shading at the site are identified to create a baseline. ■ Measurement Once the system is installed, the electrical characteristics of the system and the actual solar output are measured to ensure it operates as designed. The performance of the solar array is based on the current-voltage (IV) curve. Using the IRR1-SOL, the amount of solar radiation intensity needed to calculate the output IV curve is obtained. ■ Comparison and Diagnosis Even if installed correctly, a solar power generation system may not produce the expected electrical output. For the system to generate the anticipated output, it must receive the correct amount of irradiance energy and generate the DC voltage supplied to the inverter.
