We would like to introduce an example of the renovation of the symbolic and dignified brick exterior of a building on a university campus, using three colors of blown granite-like materials "New Jewel" and "JX." 【Property】 [Renovation] Tokyo Kasei University Building No. 10 and Student Hall (Itabashi Ward, Tokyo) ◇ Construction Date: February 2017 ◇ Construction Area: 3,112m2 (NJ: 2,005m2, JX: 1,107m2) ◇ Substrate: Brick 【Client's Challenges and Requests】 ◆ The exterior material should have high design quality that does not compromise the concept and brick appearance from the time of completion. ◆ Since the building is used by many students and citizens, it should be safe and secure for long-term use. Additionally, the exterior material should require no maintenance for an extended period. 【Adoption Background】 ◇ Although designed with a dignified appearance as a symbolic presence of the academy, issues such as brick peeling due to aging had occurred. ◇ At the request of the architectural firm that originally constructed the building, we proposed this renovation method. 【Selection Points】 ◆ The lower floors feature "New Jewel" with Edo cut joints, achieving a finish that has a heavy feel comparable to traditional brickwork. ◆ It excels in design, functionality, and durability, and is a long-lasting exterior finishing material with a 20-year warranty.
