The new treatment "EVOLK" for low Cr steel resin molds has surface hardness and diffusion layer depth that exceed New Kanak.
New treatment "EVOLK" for low Cr steel resin molds The hardness of P20 and P21 series materials is around 1000 HV. The low roughness, weldability, and minimal dimensional changes are similar to conventional materials, and due to the low-temperature treatment, dimensional changes are also extremely small. Additionally, for SKD11 materials, the diffusion layer depth is greater than before, making "EVOLK" effective for press molds as well.

Kanak processing is a gas nitriding treatment using a unique method. The material is held in a heating atmosphere of around 500°C for several hours, allowing nitrogen to diffuse and permeate from the steel surface, reacting with metal elements to form a hardened layer. Unlike conventional nitriding treatments, there are very few brittle iron nitride compounds near the surface, and the high compressive residual stress and smooth hardness distribution are characteristics of Kanak processing.
