Seismic ceiling: Seismic ceiling substrate system using square pipes (TEC method)
Standard specifications
The TEC method is the strongest ceiling substrate system that uses square pipes for the furring and braces, ensuring a horizontal allowable load capacity of 9000N.
Features of the TEC Method - Aligns the center of the hanging bolt axis with the core of the ceiling substrate system to prevent seismic forces from escaping. - Ensures a horizontal allowable load of 9000N. - Compatible with specific ceilings. - Achieves horizontal allowable load exceeding that of the structural frame using lightweight steel. - Moves with the building during an earthquake, avoiding swinging like a pendulum. - Requires fewer braces compared to other methods, allowing for greater flexibility in ceiling-mounted equipment. - Uses TEC-specific scaffolding boards, enabling the installation of inspection pathways. - Suitable for both new construction and renovations. - Can accommodate heights exceeding 1.5m. - Made of lightweight steel, allowing for manual transportation and installation. - Obtained architectural technical performance certification from Bureau Veritas Japan (No. BVJ-PA16-001).

basic information
The conventional light steel framework uses C-shaped steel for the furring channels and braces, resulting in an offset between the axis of the hanging bolts and the center of the furring channels and braces. Therefore, when subjected to seismic stress, the force escapes in the direction of the offset, causing the ceiling to twist and shake. The TEC method uses square pipes instead of C-shaped steel for the furring channels and braces, designs all hardware specifically for TEC, and aligns the axis of the hanging bolts with the centers of the furring channels and braces, developing a system that prevents the force from escaping. After considering the "Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism standards," "Architectural Institute of Japan guidelines," and "on-site opinions," the WILL-TEC method, reached through trial and error, achieves a strength of 9000N, far exceeding the 5000N horizontal allowable load claimed by existing ceiling steel framework manufacturers. The TEC method can handle seismic retrofitting of ceilings, which is difficult with steel structures, as a lightweight steel seismic ceiling system specifically designed for certain ceilings. Willbee has joined the Seismic Ceiling Promotion Association, which aims to promote this ceiling framework system. By spreading the earthquake-resistant ceiling WILL-TEC method in the market, we will promote the assurance of safe and secure building usage.
