Shot has developed GTAS(R) (Glass and Aluminum Sealing) using a new glass and process that can hermetically seal high thermal expansion rate Al (aluminum). Conventional hermetic terminals were limited to materials such as Fe, SUS, FeNi, and KV due to the constraints of the thermal expansion rate of glass. Current lithium batteries are not completely hermetic due to sealing with resins and other materials, leading to issues such as electrolyte drying and moisture intrusion from the outside, which affect capacity reduction and long-term reliability. By using GTAS(R), customers can achieve complete hermetic sealing. Additionally, the reduction in the number of components in lithium batteries due to a simple design contributes to cost reduction for customers' batteries.
