The "SL-501" is an ultrasonic sand level gauge that incorporates a water pressure gauge (wave height measurement) and an inclinometer, and features a self-recording function. It is installed underwater near the seabed. The ultrasonic pulses emitted from the ultrasonic transducer (at one-second intervals) reflect off the seabed, and the time taken for them to return to the device is accurately measured to determine and record the distance to the seabed (sand surface).
