■Principle of Autoclave Under high pressure, many chemical reactions proceed faster than at atmospheric pressure (1 atm), and reactions that are rarely observed at atmospheric pressure can occur. Additionally, when heating objects containing moisture, at atmospheric pressure, most of the moisture inside the object turns into steam and is lost around the boiling point of water at 100°C. However, under high pressure, the boiling point rises, allowing the object to be heated at temperatures significantly exceeding 100°C while retaining moisture. This characteristic is utilized.
