[Case Study] Circuit Breakers in the Railway Sector: High-Reliability Plunger-Type Auxiliary Contacts
Plunger-type magnetic proximity switch PPMU・PSPD series
It is used in the auxiliary contacts of circuit breakers for railway vehicles, including the Shinkansen, which require high reliability, and has contributed to the safe operation of railways for many years!
The circuit breaker device is installed in the control box under the vehicle floor. The vacuum contactor of the main conversion device for motor control using VVVF inverters opens and closes every time it passes between substations. Our plunger-type magnetic proximity switch is used as an auxiliary contact for the vacuum contactor. The contact part uses the glass-sealed contact "Bestact," which has no oxidation or corrosion, ensuring exceptional reliability. Bestact features our unique structure, different from conventional reed switches, achieving a long-lasting product with excellent environmental and vibration resistance.

Company information
For over 40 years, our relays and sensors have been trusted and used in various markets where reliability and safety are essential, such as in Shinkansen (bullet trains) and steel manufacturing. With advantages such as an electrical lifespan that is twice that of standard relays and a failure rate of 1/20 under low loads, we contribute to improving equipment reliability while also reducing running costs by decreasing the frequency of replacements. Leveraging the excellent environmental resistance of our products, they perform well even in harsh conditions, such as in vegetable factories where humidity is present.
