GEOTETS method for smoothly advancing disaster recovery construction work.
NETIS-PLUS AC-190008-P
Many have been adopted for the reconstruction projects of the Great East Japan Earthquake! Approximately 12,000 tons of used steel sheet piles have been reused!
The "GEOTETS Method" is a unique construction technique that allows for the safe extraction of steel sheet piles, retaining piles, and pre-cast piles. In the area surrounding Sendai Airport, which suffered significant tsunami damage, multiple pump stations were constructed as part of recovery work to enhance drainage functions associated with the installation of a tsunami defense line. The approximately 5 km long pipeline connecting to the pump stations was in close proximity to residential areas and buried pipes, leading to the adoption of this method to prevent business losses due to the extraction of steel sheet piles. The main reasons for the adoption of this method are as follows: ■ Steel sheet piles can be reused, making it an effective means in an environment of material shortages following the earthquake. It is an environmentally conscious construction method. ■ It can highly suppress subsidence in the surrounding ground during extraction. ■ It can reduce costs compared to leaving steel sheet piles in place. Subsequent technological developments have increased the filling speed to more than twice that of the time during the earthquake recovery, shortening the construction period. As a result, significant cost reductions were achieved. *For more details, please download the PDF or contact us.

【Construction Achievements】 ■ We have accumulated approximately 300 achievements. 1. Applicable Conditions All steel sheet piles and H-piles used as retaining piles or separation piles that can be pulled out can be addressed. Steel pipe sheet piles and precast piles can also be applicable after individual cases are examined during extraction. 2. Scope of Application (Conditions where it is particularly effective) 1) There is a particularly high demand for steel sheet pile retaining walls in water supply and sewage construction in densely populated residential areas, road construction for building temporary platforms and retaining walls for bridge abutments and piers under river embankments, and sluice gate construction requiring double closure retaining walls for river embankments and pond embankments. 2) In cases of constructing bridge piers or waterways on main roads, retaining walls are often necessary, and it is essential to ensure the safety of vehicles and pedestrians on the road and to prevent impacts on important buried objects beneath the road surface, making the application of this method effective. 3) This method is widely applicable in retaining wall construction and temporary bridge construction in proximity work and general embankment work. 4) In recent years, soil contamination countermeasures, including those from natural sources, have been implemented, and the adoption of this method, which has the function of a shielding wall to prevent the movement of contaminants from adjacent areas after the removal and purification of contaminants, has been increasing.
