Basotect is a soft foam made from melamine resin. Its properties and dense cell structure provide characteristics not achievable with conventional foams, offering excellent flame resistance, lightweight, and good processability, making it suitable for a wide range of applications from industrial to consumer goods.

1) Lightweight… very lightweight with a density of 6 to 9 kg/m3. 2) Flame retardant… passes UL94 V-0 and HF-1 for thicknesses of 3mm or more (Basotect G, G+, TG, UF). Material for railway vehicles A-A style 40mm flame retardant pass (Basotect G). FMVSS302 pass (Basotect G). 3) Insulation and sound absorption… has insulation and sound absorption properties due to its fine cellular structure. 4) Heat resistance… maximum 240°C, safe operating temperature 150°C. 5) Water absorption… has excellent water absorption due to its fine cellular structure and capillary action. There is also a water-repellent grade available through special processing.
