The "Impact Layer" features a disc rotor with impact pins embedded within the casing, mounted on a rigid shaft, and rotated at high speeds either directly or via belt drive. Powder is supplied from the upper inlet to the center of the rotor, where it is rapidly flung outward by centrifugal force and collides with the pins. After striking the casing wall, it falls and is discharged from the lower hopper section.
