We have successfully developed the world's first CFRP propeller for general commercial ships.
The main features, "high efficiency" and "quietness," are performance characteristics that have been created by maximizing the properties of the materials used. In 2015, we received the Prime Minister's Award at the 6th Monozukuri Nippon Grand Award for the development of the world's first carbon fiber reinforced plastic propeller installed on a commercial ship that achieves energy conservation. Lightweight - Achieved lightweight design with about 1/5 the specific gravity of conventional materials, making installation easy. - Reduction of moment of inertia and lightweighting of the shaft system. High Strength - Higher fatigue strength than conventional materials, providing greater reliability. Low Vibration - Vibration is reduced due to lightweight design and high damping rate. - Improvement of living environment. Overload Reduction - The shape of the blades deforms to match the flow, reducing overload during rough weather. High Efficiency - Lightweight design allows for easy increase in diameter, resulting in improved propeller performance. - Suppression of cavitation occurrence. Improved Maintainability - Keeping spare blades in stock allows for quick response in case of damage. - No specialized knowledge required for replacement, and repairs are possible.

basic information
【Reduction of Torsional Vibration Stress】 CFRP is lighter and stronger than conventional propeller material NAB, resulting in reduced propeller weight and moment of inertia, which lowers torsional vibration stress. Additionally, CFRP has higher damping than conventional propeller material NAB, contributing to noise suppression and further reduction of torsional vibration stress. 【Elastic Deformation】 Due to deformation in the direction of decreased pitch with increased load, during rough weather (sudden load fluctuations) or acceleration, elastic deformation allows the flow to dissipate forces, thereby suppressing engine overload. 【Suppression of Cavitation】 CFRP propellers deform under load, which helps suppress the occurrence of cavitation, leading to a reduction in stern vibrations.
