Introduction to the behavior monitoring of steep slope surfaces affected by the Kumamoto earthquake.
The case study titled "Monitoring Behavior of Steep Slope" is based on the Kumamoto earthquake that occurred in April 2016. To ensure a prompt emergency response to the rockfall on the national highway and to fully reopen the road, monitoring was conducted while implementing one-lane alternating traffic. The monitoring involved the installation of a "total station" on the opposite side of the collapsed slope, along with surveillance cameras positioned to provide a comprehensive view of the entire collapsed slope for real-time automatic monitoring. In steep slope areas, monitoring using a total station proved effective, allowing not only measurement data but also image verification, which enabled a cross-check to understand the behavior of the collapsed surface. [Features] ■ Response to sediment disasters caused by the Kumamoto earthquake ■ Monitoring of steep slopes using a total station *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
