The "R1-502 type (0.5mm) / R2-501 type (1.0mm)" from Komatsu Seisakusho is a tipping bucket type rain gauge sensor for measurement. For every fixed amount of rainwater (0.5mm or 1.0mm) that enters the receiving inlet, the tipping bucket tips over, and this tipping action is detected by a reed switch, which outputs a contact pulse signal.
