Utilized for dating geological eras! An explanation of "TL dating."
The age value of minerals is related not only to the time since the mineral was formed (the time since the mineral cooled to several tens of degrees Celsius), but also to the intensity of radiation exposure per unit time and the specific properties of that mineral. The 'TL age' value is given as the ratio of the fossil dose (PD) or equivalent dose (ED) received by the target mineral since its formation to the annual dose (AD) that the sample receives per year. In dating fault clay and metamorphic rocks, the TL signal that has accumulated since the formation of the rock is lost (annealed or reset) due to frictional heat from fault movement or the heat from hot spring water, and by measuring the signal that has accumulated again afterward, the age of fault movement or metamorphism can be estimated. *For more details, please refer to the catalog or feel free to contact us.
