Operating Principle The magnetic induction flow sensor operates according to the principle of induction. A DC voltage is generated by the movement of a conductor within a magnetic field. The measuring tube of the VMZ.2 is located within the magnetic field (B). A conductive medium (V) flows through the measuring tube. Positive and negative charge carriers are deflected in opposite directions. The voltage (U) is generated perpendicular to the magnetic field and is picked up by two electrodes. This results in the induced voltage being proportional to the average flow velocity of the liquid. The VMZ.2 converts the induced voltage into a flow-proportional frequency signal.
