What we at Koyo Seigawara deliver is "ibushi-gawara" (smoked tiles). In the final process of firing the tiles, they are smoked, creating a carbon membrane on the surface, which prevents deterioration and discoloration of the tiles due to rain, snow, and frost, thus giving wooden structures a lifespan of 100 to 200 years. This is a traditional Japanese tile. Upholding the spirit of "lifetime craftsmanship," we create "issho-gawara" (lifetime tiles) that continue to radiate beautiful brilliance even after 100 years. That is Koyo Seigawara.
