NETIS registered product! Star-shaped spacer that reduces concrete cracking.
Concrete spacers, widely used in the civil engineering field, often fall off from rebar after installation or during concrete pouring, failing to perform their function as spacers. Additionally, their heavy weight and fragility have raised concerns about workability issues and the risk of falling accidents. To address these shortcomings, a collaboration between Kinki University’s Faculty of Industrial Science and Technology, the Fukuoka Industrial Technology Center, and Chuo Sangyo Co., Ltd. has led to the development of the star-shaped plastic spacer "Plas-Star G," which is highly effective in suppressing crack formation in concrete, starting from 2005. This product is registered with NETIS (QS-080024-V). 【Features】 - The product design is based on thermal stress and drying shrinkage stress analysis, avoiding stress concentration on the concrete surface. - The effects of thermal expansion and drying shrinkage are comparable to those of mortar and concrete spacers. - Test results from temperature load tests show that the impact on cracking and adhesion to concrete is also comparable. - Regarding cracking, it is reduced to less than half compared to donut-shaped plastic spacers (below 85% at temperatures below 40°C). - The degree of filling of the concrete is significantly improved. basic information
**Advantages** ○ Cost-effectiveness: Improved → Reduced material costs by using horizontal reinforcement on vertical bars (can use smaller sizes) ○ Process: Comparable to concrete products → Installation time for spacers is similar ○ Quality: Improved → Decrease in defects (voids, cracks) in concrete structures ○ Safety: Comparable to concrete products → Risk of material falling from heights and material weight are similar ○ Workability: Improved → Can be installed on either vertical or horizontal bars regardless of rebar arrangement (attached to outermost bars) ○ Impact on surrounding environment: Improved → Uses recycled materials such as plastic bottle caps ○ Shape management: Improved → Easier management due to product color coding ● For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.
