Regarding the treatment of surplus sludge in the wastewater treatment facility, the surplus activated sludge was coagulated using chemicals with a dewatering machine, dehydrated with a cloth-type dewatering machine, and then entrusted to a contractor for disposal as industrial waste. The moisture content of the dewatered sludge cake was high, resulting in heavier sludge cakes and increased costs for industrial waste disposal, which was a concern (the industrial waste disposal contractor calculates costs based on volume and weight at the time of collection). 1. The operational management of the wastewater treatment facility is not good, and there is poor activation of the activated sludge due to fluctuations in the quality of the raw wastewater. (When the activated sludge is poorly activated, the amount of dewatered sludge increases due to phenomena such as sludge bulking.) 2. The capacity of the dewatering machine decreases due to insufficient coagulation reaction of the chemicals used for dewatering sludge. (This leads to an increase in weight because the moisture content of the dewatered sludge becomes high.) 3. The amount of dewatered sludge cake for disposal increases, leading to higher costs for industrial waste treatment. (Costs for industrial waste disposal contractors range from \30,000 to \50,000 per ton/m³.)

We provided advice on the operation management of wastewater treatment facilities, activating the activated sludge to cultivate high-quality activated sludge and stabilize the water quality of the effluent.
