Welded wire mesh can withstand large loads even with thin wire diameters, as the load weight is evenly distributed across each weld point. In addition to JIS standard products, welded wire mesh can be manufactured in combinations that are too difficult to produce with woven wire mesh due to excessively thin wire diameters (for example, a 4 mesh with a wire diameter of 0.5mm or a 1/2 inch mesh with a wire diameter of 1.6mm). The most common use is for reinforcing concrete structures. It helps prevent the occurrence of cracks in concrete and minimizes them if they do occur.
