Rubber products tend to undergo relatively slow shrinkage and deformation even after vulcanization, especially those that contain volatile components in their rubber formulations, making it impossible to avoid some degree of dimensional changes over time. For such products, it is generally recommended to let the rubber rest (aging) for a certain period after vulcanization before processing and measuring.
