In just five minutes, you can improve analysis accuracy. "It doesn't match the experiments," "The results are completely off..." In such cases, the quality of the analysis model's mesh may be the cause. For example, are you analyzing with a mesh like the one commonly produced by software that creates meshes with the push of a button? The analysis results from such models are completely unreliable. The most certain way to improve analysis accuracy is to "create a high-quality mesh."
-
Reasons why low-quality mesh is problematic: Part 1 - "It can't deform any further..." In general, the Finite Element Method (FEM) assumes that "the displacement between nodes changes regularly." Since individual elements (in the case of linear elements) can only undergo simple linear deformations, it is necessary to increase the resolution (mesh density) to accurately capture the complex deformations of the entire structure. If the mesh size is large, the resolution becomes low, making it difficult to represent complex deformations. Conversely, if the mesh is small and sufficiently reproduces the shape, it can accurately determine the deformations.
-
Reasons why low-quality meshes are problematic: Part 2 "Inability to accurately determine contact..." Another representative example of how low-quality meshes negatively impact analysis results is contact analysis, as shown in the diagram. The accuracy of contact analysis is determined by whether a sufficient number of nodes are placed in relation to the contact area (surface area). In FEM, since the transmission of reaction forces occurs through nodes, if there is only one node at the contact point, the transmission of forces acting over a wide area will be handled by just that one point, leading to unnatural force concentration. Ideally, the arrangement of nodes should be regular.

Let's create high-quality meshes! But... "The Trap of Auto-Meshing" Generally, high-quality meshes refer to those that are sufficiently small in size relative to the product shape and are close to the shape of cubes or regular tetrahedra. However, creating such meshes is not easy. The auto-mesh function, which allows you to quickly cut meshes with simple operations, is convenient. However, if you cannot achieve a high-quality mesh in one go, mesh correction becomes essential. Typically, correction work takes a long time, and it is not uncommon for it to take several weeks before you realize it.
-
Let's create high-quality mesh! But... "The wall of high-end meshers." "There is no mesh that cannot be cut for any product shape" --- that is the appeal of high-end meshers. With this, you can certainly create high-quality mesh, but mastering the abundant features is challenging. When you're not used to it, it indeed takes time to create mesh.
-
In just 5 minutes!! Is it true that high-quality mesh cannot be created without taking time? No, that's not the case. There is a way to create it in just 5 minutes. That is by using SimLab 14.
-
The difference is obvious. In fact, when comparing the analysis results between a model with poor mesh quality and the analysis model created with SimLab 14... the difference is clear at a glance.
-
Moreover, the analysis execution is done only once. SimLab 14 is equipped with advanced automatic shape recognition features, as well as automatic optimization functions for mesh arrangement and element quality, eliminating the need to redo the mesh and repeatedly run calculations. You can easily create high-quality meshes with SimLab 14. Please try operating SimLab 14 for just five minutes; you will surely be satisfied.
