The Japanese cedar that has been planted in the southwestern region of China is called "Yewsugi." Although the color and grain may differ slightly due to soil and other influences, it still resembles Japanese cedar very closely. Cedar wood is characterized by the clear distinction between the white sapwood and the light pink to reddish-brown heartwood, as well as its distinctive fragrance.
