If left unattended, corrosion will worsen, resulting in enormous repair costs. Therefore, various rebar corrosion diagnosis devices have been developed domestically, but they cannot accurately determine the degree and rate of corrosion, and the devices are large and heavy, making work in high places or narrow spaces very difficult. To address these issues all at once and to make rebar corrosion diagnosis more accurate and easier, we have developed the CM-V. ***Features*** - High Precision: Measures polarization resistance (corrosion rate) using a dual electrode method, allowing for more accurate measurements. - Compact and Lightweight: Weighs only 2.5 kg (including battery). ***Measurement of Reinforcement Corrosion*** CM-V connects lead wires to a rebar exposed at one location and uses it as the working electrode (WE), combining it with a reference electrode (RE) and two counter electrodes [center counter electrode (CCE) and guard counter electrode (GCE)] to create a dual counter electrode sensor. This sensor is installed on the concrete surface just above the rebar to be measured. A weak alternating current of high and low frequencies is then passed through, and from the impedance value at that time, the polarization resistance Rct, which is inversely proportional to the corrosion rate lorr, is determined. This allows for the evaluation of the corrosion range and corrosion rate of the rebar in concrete structures. (Patent obtained) *Patent permission obtained from Nippon Steel Corporation.* ***Understanding Impedance Characteristics (Precision Measurement)*** Automatic measurement of alternating current impedance can be performed in the frequency range from 10 Hz to 0.1 mHz. In this case, the data transferred to a computer can be printed as an organized numerical list of frequency, impedance (absolute value), phase, real part, and imaginary part. Additionally, automatic plotting of Cole-Cole plots can be performed.
