Automated transportation is being operated at the Yamaha Motor Iwata South Factory, the second location.

Eve Autonomy, a subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., has been providing automated transport services for factories at its Hamakita plant since 2020. Recently, it began operations at its second location, the Iwata South Plant, starting in late March 2021. At the Hamakita plant, the first prototype vehicle, which is currently under development and focused on miniaturization, has been used since 2020 to provide transport services between buildings, covering processes from machining to heat treatment using a land-based prototype vehicle. At the Iwata South Plant, the company has developed a new, smaller model based on the insights gained from the Hamakita plant, which will be used to transport products between buildings from the casting process to the machining process. The new vehicle has achieved a 30% reduction in size compared to the land vehicle, making it suitable for automated transport services in narrow aisles and spaces within the buildings. Additionally, by removing the rear seats and creating a cargo space, the vehicle can be used in ways other than just towing carts, which was previously unnecessary for factory automated transport. Furthermore, in addition to hardware updates, a new "call application" has been developed for remote operation, enabling more flexible use in the field.
