Geological survey in mountainous areas using a portable penetration testing machine.

The portable penetration testing machine is a ground investigation device for mountainous areas that can perform standard penetration tests according to JIS A1219.
By making the entire unit lightweight and minimizing its maximum length, it can be transported with a small crawler in most mountainous regions, significantly reducing costs for ground investigations such as those for transmission towers.
This investigation machine and method obtained a patent on November 22, 2019, through a joint application with Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc. and Celery Co., Ltd. (Patent No. 6619235).
【Features】
- No need for a boring machine, water supply equipment, or temporary work scaffolding
- No need to lay monorails for transporting equipment
- Material transportation is possible on slopes of up to 35 degrees with a small crawler
- N-values are obtained every 50 cm through standard penetration tests
- Almost continuous geological structure photographs are obtained through split images of the sampler for penetration testing
- All equipment can be transported with a one-box car
- The device does not rotate, allowing for the determination of the direction of geological structures such as slip surfaces.
