**Lecture Content** "Characteristics of Soil Engineering and Troublesome Issues Anticipated in Design and Construction" (Scheduled Time: 15:00–16:00, 60 minutes) In our disaster-prone country, soil engineering, particularly embankments, has led to large-scale ground disasters due to earthquakes and heavy rainfall, resulting in significant damage. In this lecture, we will explain why soil engineering is vulnerable to rain and earthquakes from a geotechnical perspective, as well as discuss countermeasures for special soils and soft ground, which are treated as troublesome soils in design and construction.
