Crude Oil and Naphtha Study Session

Hello everyone, this is Seko from the Sales Department, Chemical Products Division. Recently, I participated in a study session on crude oil and naphtha as part of our new employee training.
Naphtha is a light oil obtained by distilling crude oil and is used as a raw material for petrochemical products. Since naphtha is derived from crude oil, its price fluctuates due to various factors. Some of the products we handle are produced from this naphtha, making information on price fluctuations very important. In the latter half of 2018, key points of interest include price controls by President Trump, trends in production cuts by OPEC and non-OPEC oil-producing countries, movements in Russia, geopolitical risks in the Middle East, and developments surrounding Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Syria.
Finally, let me introduce the products we handle that are made from naphtha!
1. SBS
LCY in Taiwan is a major manufacturer of thermoplastic rubber (SBS) with factories in China and the United States.
2. SIS
SIS (Styrene-Isoprene-Styrene) thermoplastic elastomer manufactured by BALING, a major company in the SINOPEC Group in China.
