■ Minister of the Environment Award: LOHAS Engineering Center Building LOHAS Forest 'Hall'
This facility is located on a university campus in Fukushima Prefecture, with the concept of LOHAS for education and research. It features greening mats based on Chigaya, water quality purification using functional charcoal, aquaponics, and other environmental and visual mechanisms, along with a distinctive design that actively utilizes wood, making it a prominent face of the campus with high promotional effectiveness. Our company was responsible for the design cooperation and construction of the rooftop greening portion. We selected plants that evoke riverbank landscapes and allow for seasonal experiences, and proposed a planting base that accommodates the curved roof, achieving a more fulfilling rooftop greening in both environmental and visual aspects.
■ Chairman's Award of the Urban Greening Organization: Optimal Rainwater Storage Simulation Tool
This technology is a calculation tool that can derive the foundational data necessary to promote the utilization of rainwater. It verifies the balance between daily demand and optimal storage levels based on rainfall trends in the planned area, and proposes the capacity and shape of rainwater storage tanks based on past rainfall data and the total catchment area and collection efficiency of the plan.
