Causes and Measures of Water Pollution [Environmental Measures VOL.4]

I will introduce the causes and countermeasures of water pollution, which has a significant impact on life and the environment. During Japan's period of rapid economic growth, pollution-related diseases caused by environmental pollution continue to cast a dark shadow over victims, residents of affected areas, and the environment.
Among pollution-related diseases, Minamata disease, Niigata Minamata disease, Yokkaichi asthma, and Itai-itai disease are referred to as the "four major pollution diseases," with three of them, excluding Yokkaichi asthma, caused by water pollution.
**Minamata Disease**
This pollution-related disease occurred in Minamata Bay, Kumamoto Prefecture. It caused severe health damage due to the consumption of fish contaminated with organic mercury discharged from factories. It is also called the origin of pollution.
**Niigata Minamata Disease**
This pollution-related disease occurred in the Agano River basin in Niigata Prefecture. It caused severe health damage due to the consumption of fish contaminated with organic mercury discharged from factories.
**Itai-itai Disease**
This pollution-related disease occurred in the Jintsu River basin in Toyama Prefecture. It caused severe health damage due to the consumption of rice grown in water contaminated with cadmium discharged from mines.
This time, I would like to focus on water pollution, which has a significant impact on life and the environment.
