What is IoT (Internet of Things)?
IoT (Internet of Things) refers to the system or concept that processes and utilizes data obtained from devices (things) equipped with communication functions and sensors, such as Wi-Fi, while communicating over the internet. The reading of IoT is "ai-o-ti," with the central "o" often written in lowercase. The Japanese translation of Internet of Things is "Monono Intānetto," which succinctly conveys the meaning of the concept.
Data sent from devices is collected in computers located in remote places via the internet. Conversely, data from computers is sent to devices located in remote places through the internet.
Nowadays, anything that can connect to the internet is not limited to personal computers (PCs), smartphones, or tablets. Any device that has some means of connecting to the internet, such as televisions, audio equipment, digital cameras, cars, homes, or factory equipment, can potentially become an IoT device.
