Essential winter energy-saving methods at home.
Usually, I have introduced energy-saving methods for air conditioners primarily for businesses.
This time, I will introduce energy-saving methods for general households that do not involve air conditioners.
1. Utilize kotatsu and electric blankets
Kotatsu and electric blankets are very cost-effective. The cost per hour for an air conditioner is 12 yen, while for a kotatsu it is 3-5 yen, and for an electric blanket, it is 1-2 yen.
2. Set the refrigerator temperature to "medium" or "low"
For refrigerators, simply changing the setting from "high" to "medium" can save you 1,500 yen a year.
3. Lower the temperature of the warm water washing toilet seat and keep the lid closed
The electricity cost for the heating function of the toilet seat and washing water is about 10 yen per day, totaling 3,600 yen a year. Just closing the lid can prevent heat loss from the toilet seat.
4. Use insulation sheets and gap prevention sheets
If the warm air heated by heating appliances escapes through doors and windows, the room will remain cold. By shutting out cold air from outside, you can improve heating efficiency.
5. Use a humidifier
A person's perceived temperature is affected not only by the air temperature but also by humidity. It is said that in a room with 60-70% humidity, you can lower the air conditioner setting by 3°C.
