Peab is the first construction company to use SSAB Zero, SSAB's new zero-emission recycled steel.

Singapore, August 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- SSAB and Peab are strengthening their collaboration and considering the delivery of zero-emission steel SSAB Zero, produced using recycled steel and non-fossil energy. Peab plans to use about half of the 300 tons delivered in the initial order for foundation micro-piles starting this year, with the remaining half to be used in construction projects. This will make Peab the world's first construction company to use SSAB Zero. This contract aims to further enhance the joint efforts of Peab and SSAB to create solutions for reducing the carbon footprint in the construction and real estate sector, which accounts for approximately 20 percent of total CO2 emissions in Sweden. CO2 emissions from Peab's operations are primarily caused by the use of various materials, including steel, in production. Peab has set comprehensive environmental goals, aiming to become climate neutral by 2045 and to reduce the carbon dioxide emission intensity of input materials by 50% by 2030.
