Mold polishing can now be automated. Molds with free-form surfaces. An end effector that autonomously adjusts to maintain constant contact force at high speed and also autonomously corrects the tool's gravitational load. With high-speed automatic correction control, the robot's trajectory speed is increased, enabling stable, high-quality automatic polishing with uniform force regardless of the angle!

FerRobotics' Active Compliant Technology automatically corrects the "difference" in contact pressure (force) that occurs during processing in grinding and polishing, which require skilled techniques, in response to dimensional tolerances, curved shapes, and non-planar surfaces of the workpiece, at high speed. It also automatically adjusts for gravitational loads, allowing for consistent grinding/polishing with a set contact force.
This technology increases the speed at which devices and robots can move along their trajectories, thereby enhancing processing speed and improving cycle times. Additionally, in robotic polishing and grinding, the ability to control the contact pressure through the expansion and contraction of the ACF itself means that there is no need to move the heavy robot arm for corrections, which further assists in improving the processing speed of robotic polishing. Furthermore, since it automatically corrects tool loads affected by gravity, which changes with the angle of the robot, it maintains a consistent contact pressure from any angle, enabling a finish without processing inconsistencies.
