Free membership registrationIon Exchange Resin for Water Treatment Ion exchange resin is a type of resin that captures ions present in water and releases its own ions in exchange, facilitating ion exchange. Its applications are as follows (source: Wikipedia): - Softening hard water: By exchanging calcium bicarbonate with sodium chloride or water, it transforms hard water into soft water. Devices that perform this softening are called water softeners. - Production of pure and ultra-pure water: Ions in water are exchanged for hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions, which react to form water. - Removal of organic acids: Utilizing the ability of weakly basic anion exchange resin to efficiently exchange and remove low-molecular-weight organic acids that are difficult to adsorb and remove with activated carbon, thereby enhancing product value. - Removing organic acids from concentrated fruit juice to eliminate acidity. - Removing organic acids that color raw refined sucrose and syrup, resulting in decolorization (making it white or transparent). - Removing and purifying impurities contained in alcohol and edible/medicinal fats and oils. - Extracting and purifying useful organic acids, organic amines, amino acids, vitamins, and antibiotics. There are many other applications as well. Osmo offers a variety of ion exchange resins. Please feel free to consult with us.

Free membership registrationA Discussion on PFAS Recently, PFAS has been highlighted as a harmful substance in various media. PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) is a general term for organic fluorine compounds that contain carbon and fluorine atoms. PFAS has properties such as water and oil repellency, heat resistance, chemical resistance, and non-absorption of light. It also has characteristics like being fire-resistant and non-conductive, making it useful in various aspects of daily life and industry. PFAS has been used in everyday items like frying pans and food packaging. However, some types are difficult to break down and can accumulate in the body, raising concerns about their toxicity. In fact, there have been cases in Japan, such as in the Tokyo Tama region and Okinawa Prefecture, where PFAS levels exceeding standards have been detected in well water used for drinking, affecting our drinking water. The source of this contamination is believed to be the foam components used in fire extinguishers. Osmo sells various cartridge filters, including activated carbon filters that are effective in removing PFAS. https://premium.ipros.jp/osmo/product/category/63253/ Please feel free to consult us.

In foreign countries, "sugar" typically refers to granulated sugar. - White sugar: The most commonly used sugar unique to Japan. It is an essential sugar in Japanese cuisine. - Brown sugar: A moist-textured brown sugar used mainly in cooking, such as in simmered dishes and tsukudani. - Rock sugar: Large block or crystalline sugar that has been recrystallized from sugar syrup over a long period. - Cube sugar: Granulated sugar mixed with sugar syrup, pressed into molds, and dried with warm air. Ion exchange resins are used for the following purposes: - Sugar purification, decolorization, and desalting - Purification of amino sugars and acidic sugars - Separation of oligosaccharides and others Osmo offers a variety of ion exchange resins. https://premium.ipros.jp/osmo/product/category/63256/
