After completing a year-long demonstration experiment at the Otaru Canal in Hokkaido, we will officially start providing services from May 2022. By analyzing public toilets in real-time from three perspectives: "usage status," "malfunctions/abnormalities," and "hygiene conditions," we can reduce maintenance costs. Additionally, information that can assist with the overall economic activities of the city, crime prevention, and COVID-19 measures can be provided from the city's public toilets. We have obtained a patent for the system that allows us to understand the number of toilet users and handwashing rates based on the usage frequency of toilets and sinks.

This system, developed through a joint research project between the University of Electro-Communications and Creative Japan, conducts demonstration experiments to visualize a "ventilation index" related to the "three Cs" (closed spaces, crowded places, close contact) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, measuring CO2 concentration in a specific space. Based on these measurements, it enables real-time monitoring of the number of people indoors, allowing for the analysis of crowd density. If the number exceeds the capacity appropriate for the room size, notifications can be sent to the administrator. Additionally, this CO2 concentration measurement can be utilized as a visualization system for ventilation environments (CO2 concentration) in university classrooms and similar settings. *Analysis based on CO2 concentration is patented. It is said that cognitive function declines at CO2 concentrations above 1000 ppm, feelings of drowsiness occur above 2000 ppm, and performance at work significantly decreases when levels exceed 2500 ppm, according to research from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the State University of New York, among others.

This is an ELTRES communication add-on board that can be combined with Sony's SPRESENSE board computer, which is capable of AI functions, to build an edge AI + IoT environment. It comes with ELTRES communication (with up to 4 months of free usage) and a data analysis tool called CLIP Viewer Lite, which allows for checking communication status and analyzing transmitted data. CLIP Viewer Lite displays payload data from the ELTRES add-on board in real-time. It is not only suitable for checking the transmission status of ELTRES communication but also for data analysis. Data integration with your applications or cloud environments via API is also possible.
