This property features a semi-outdoor spiral staircase that sits at the center of the building. The R wall made of exposed concrete, which supports the structure, extends directly into the interior of the establishment. In relation to that R wall, we explored the possibility of showcasing wood that we often use in our regular work, and our hinoki plain and upper small paneling was adopted. We would like to introduce a case where our wood materials were supplied for the "Himeji City Tenryu Charred Cedar House" constructed by Kuohome. The fence material, characterized by its wavy construction that takes advantage of the softness of cedar, is painted with Wood Long Eco on the red heartwood of cedar. This material enhances durability for outdoor use and blends well with the texture of the charred cedar exterior, as if it had always been there. Additionally, for the living room ceiling, we adopted narrow cypress paneling with four grooves. The refreshing aroma of cypress narrow boards and the warm healing ambiance created by indirect lighting are combined with the hardness of stainless steel counters and digital signage. We would like to introduce a case where our wood was supplied for the annex of a dental clinic in Niiza City, Saitama Prefecture, which has been in operation for 60 years. The project started with a request to use specific products that matched the envisioned space. Since it was a custom order, we considered ways to customize standard products while minimizing costs. We would like to introduce a case where our timber was supplied to "Shima no Ie," designed and constructed by Hagiwara Construction Co., Ltd. Since there were many structural materials that would be exposed, we had detailed discussions about how many surfaces would be visible and how far the lengths would be visible, preparing to ensure that the materials were appropriately allocated. For the exterior wall materials, square boards were used in a lapped manner. Due to the nature of wood's tendency to "warp," we intentionally used the back side of the wood as the surface to prevent the overlapping boards from "lifting up." We selected clean materials without defects such as insect damage for the back side. The small cedar boards were produced with suggestions from the company on how to showcase the expression of cedar and the processing shapes to make it easier to apply to curved surfaces. Despite being a special size, we considered ways to keep costs down as much as possible. After several meetings with the aesthetically conscious head priest and his wife, they were very satisfied with the ceiling finish using these small boards, and we received the compliment that it was "like a work of art." We would like to introduce a case where our timber was supplied for a condominium renovation in the suburbs of Nara City. We received an order for three types of cypress paneling with different widths and processing shapes. The panels were mixed and installed on the wall that extends from the entrance to the living room. Additionally, the cypress wood for the fittings was selected to ensure that both sides, the face and the back, were free of defects, as both sides are used as decorative surfaces. The decorative ridge beams and rafters were specified to have as few knots as possible, and since they were not in stock, we required a longer production period, starting from the milling process. After completion, I had the opportunity to visit the site, and it became clear that the materials were crucial to the spatial design. We would like to introduce a case where our wood was supplied to the custom-made counter kitchen "mesure" produced by atelier m4 Inc. They were looking for width-glued materials measuring approximately 1820mm in length, 910mm in width, and 15-20mm in thickness, and requested to keep costs as low as possible, with the condition that any defects, such as knots, should not be too large. Therefore, we proposed a width-glued material made of cedar with small knots and filled knots treated with wood filling, called "Nojimokuma Panel" (25mm thick), along with a panel (15mm thick) that is usually used mainly for back panels. With meticulous processing for items like partition boards and knife holders, the beauty of the cedar grain is enhanced. Utilizing the elevation changes and depth of the exterior, the design naturally guides visitors, evoking the appearance of a villa, while the delicate expressions of the landscaping seem to welcome those who arrive. The kitchen is designed to conceal the sense of daily life by using solid wood and tiles, with the storage at the back also integrated as part of the interior. Handmade solid wood panels are applied to the front and sides, creating a cohesive texture of wood in the living-dining-kitchen area. By using straight grain wood, we achieved a finish that retains the texture of solid wood while not emphasizing the wood grain. The wall panels in the bathroom are standard 105mm wide, but we processed them to 100mm to match the narrow boards used for the ceiling.
